Thanks to the other’s sense

  Thanks to the other’s sense

” We differ, blind and seeing, one from another, not in our senses, but in the use we make of them, in the imagination and courage with which we seek wisdom beyond the senses.»(Helen Keller/ The five-sensed world, 1910)
After so many years in the field of music, dance and social psychology (operating group concept), I found myself in a dimension unknown to me until now. I was invited to perform a dance workshop, specifically “Tango”, inside a touch museum, the Museo Omero of Ancona, Italy. The work was initially intended for people with visual impairment but then extended to all with the condition of not using the sense of sight. I also had the opportunity of another brief experience on the Osimo Gold Thread with people with visually and hearing impairment contemporaneously.
It was after these experiences that I was born in myself the desire to realize this workshop with a specific program: a development of the senses through and thanks to the & nbsp; sense of the other. See inside me through another visually impaired person … Listen to my body through another person & nbsp; hearing impaired… Embrace the universe with “the sense of” we”
Send music and dance to people with hearing and visual impairment thanks to the other’s sense.
With the participation of both at the atelier we obtain the possibility   to live an experiential field, dance, specifically tango, where the couple is made up of one person with visually impaired and the other with hearing impairment.
In the dance pair are shared drives, tensions, cadences of music. As well also; The breath, the space, the warmth in an emotional embrace. In this exchange appears the deeper meaning of the “One.” My eyes and your ears like my heart and yours.
A transformative super-personal experience where participants have the opportunity to improve the perception of psycho-social identity. A space to work on issues related to the difference of the senses through the experience of the dance couple and thus experience the ability to develop the dynamics of belonging to a group situation.
Each meeting is scheduled to last two hours and thirty minutes.
The Learning will cover the essential rudiments of tango as music and dance.
– Narration / written and oral representation of the songs that we will use later.
– The perception of the radicalization and the individual axis, the perception of the weight of the body, the organization of the locomotor apparatus.
– The encounter of the couple in the functional embrace moving in space with music: listening and being heard; See and be seen.
– The energy polarities and masculine and feminine roles in Tango.
– The receptivity and the activity of the man and the receptivity and the feminine activity in the music.
– The space of the couples in the group.
– Move the group in space with the music.
The project provides for the composition of a group made up of the same number of participants with visual and auditory disabilities and then forming dance couples. So the essential condition is that in the couple there is one with the sense of hearing and the other with the sense of sight.
The participants will find themselves in front of activities that prevail mainly with the use of body communication in the specific musical paradigm.
Each concept will be expressed through: orality, text visualization, sign language, Braille, touch communication, easily accessible multimedia as well as writing, audio, body language.
The necessary and appropriate adaptations will be made to guarantee to the participants of the Atelier the reception of the “task” of each meeting. Also in this reception is conceived the sharing of and in the couple of “sense of the other” .
The Atelier coordinator develops the elements of the group process taking into account the emergence of each meeting to make changes in the program to be developed.

At the end of the Atelier there will be an assembly with all the participants, in which we will evaluate the results collectively.
